HISTORY:

Inspired by the outcome of the Second National Congress for the Disabled Persons, held at Bago City last July 26-28, 1990.  Messrs. Louie Arches Posa, Mario Abaygar, Henry  Orleans, all with physically impairments went into work right away  together with the active support of the Regional Council for the Welfare of Disabled Persons (RCWDP) Region VI and the Special   Education staff.  They organized the First consultative Meeting of the Disabled Persons in Iloilo City last September 2, 1990.

The consultative meeting was participated in by people with cross ection of disability; the orthpedically handicapped, the visually and hearing impaired.

Driven by their desire to be organized as a potent  group and to have a vehicle in which they can translate their aspirations into reality, the  participants to the consultative meeting organized the ASSOCIATION OF DISABLED PERSONS-ILOILO, INC. (ADP-II).

On December 3, 1990, ADP-II was duly registered with the Securities  and Exchange Commission as a non-stock, non-profit organization with  registration no. 1001458.  Later it became an affiliate member of the Katipunan ng may Kapansanan sa Pilipinas (KAMPI), a National Federation of Disabled Persons in the Philippines.  Now,  ADP-II   is accredited by the City and Province of Iloilo, DOLE, DSWD & DOH.  It is governed by the Board of Trustees and Officers being elected every two years.
